Samsung's OLED display can be both backward and forward bending .

Samsung and LG have at the fair Flat Panel Display International presented in the Japanese Chiba prototypes of flexible displays. The displays use different technologies, but which can be combined.

LG showed a E-PaperScreen with 19 inches, which can bend backward, without distorting text and image. Samsung presented a OLEDScreen that can be bent both forward and backward, and the image is still clean (see Video).

LG's e-paper display is aimed at low-cost low-profile reader who may in future books and newspapers or even replace business documents. Samsung's prototype was developed, however in view of the next generation of multimedia devices and computers.

OLEDs use a completely different technology than is used today LCDs. Liquid crystal displays have a separate background lighting that illuminates the display from behind and so is the pictures. In OLED screens light up each pixel on its own if it is live. For this reason, it is possible to produce OLED displays much thinner, making them flexible again.
